Events

Each year, events organized and conducted by third parties account for a significant amount of our total revenue.

If you or someone you know is interested in having a special event where the San Diego Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation will be the beneficiary, please CLICK HERE to download a copy of our guidelines and CLICK HERE to download an application.

We sincerely appreciate your desire to support the Komen San Diego Affiliate and our mission to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease through research, education, screening and treatment.

Going to Bat for Breast Cancer – with the San Diego Padres

Step up to the plate and take a swing! Help the San Diego Padres hit one out of the ballpark with Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Major League Baseball’s Going to Bat for Breast Cancer. This Mother’s Day, the boys of summer and their teams are taking the challenge to raise dollars to stay in San Diego.

We are so grateful to the San Diego Padres for providing us with 100 tickets for a survivor and one guest to attend the game! If you would like to attend (first come, first served!) let me know at Laura@sdkomen.org

There will also be a group ticket window set up for us! More details coming.

You can log onto www.komen.org/mlb and make a monetary donation to the Padres and support the breast cancer movement. The money will stay right here in San Diego to help fund research, diagnostics, treatment and services.

To show their support of Going to Bat for Breast Cancer, Major League Baseball Players will wear pink wristbands and the pink ribbon decals will be provided to all the players, coaches and umpires to wear. The pink ribbon will also appear on all the bases and on a commemorative home plate at each ballpark and the official dugout lineup cards will be pink. Pink bats will also be provided to the players for use during the Mother’s Day games and will be collected for auction on MLB.com. These funds will be donated to Komen Headquarters.

New one-day cooking and spa experience debuts at Rancho La Puerta in Baja California

Combine an organic farm, a new cooking school, and a fitness resort and spa. Ole! The “Saturdays At The Ranch” culinary and spa discovery program at Rancho La Puerta was born in 2007. This top destination spa, founded 1940 in Tecate, Baja California (only 1 hour by private coach from San Diego), now promises an exclusive Saturday-only experience of resort relaxation, spa treatments, fitness classes, garden tours, and a 3-hour cooking class at La Cocina Que Canta to residents and visitors in the San Diego area. The resort’s landscaped grounds and 3,000 acres of nature preserve create a park-like setting ranked #1 by spa polls. Centerpiece of the day is “The Kitchen That Sings,” featuring hands-on classes with La Cocina’s renowned teaching chef. Just-picked ingredients fairly snap with flavor and color as guests cook in friendly teams in the school’s huge kitchen and learn new skills and recipes. To conclude the day, everyone enjoys a delicious dinner of their own making in the luxurious hacienda setting of La Cocina’s dining room as the sun sets behind the blue ridges and white boulders of Mt. Kuchumaa. ; 877-440-7773.

Survivor Stories

Heather McClain

Heather McClain

In mid-July 2004, I found a lump in my breast. Doctors in my town said it was probably just a cyst of some sort. I had a lumpectomy to take it out and when the pathology report came back, it was a phyllodes tumor. I was sent to Seattle doctors because my local doctors said my case required more expertise than they had, which initially freaked me out because I thought, "What I am dealing with?" Heather's story

Carol McBride

At twenty-four years old, it was a time to be celebrating life, hanging out with friends, working at a "real" job. It was certainly not a time to be diagnosed with breast cancer and have a mastectomy! But that is exactly what happened to me. Carol's story

Helene Bisson

My message to you is this: It is through the toughest obstacles that we discover our inner strengths. Stay courageous and positive and keep your life full of love. Helene's story
